Very disappointed...I was treated very poorly and this whole experience has been horrible. I have been lied to and stolen from. I really don't appreciate this, as I trusted WWM to do their job correctly.
Description of Work: I received an estimate from World-Wide Movers (WWM) located in Anchorage, Alaska, for my short move to Juneau, Alaska. The high estimate was $6,016.15. Many things transpired. When the packers came, they were very nice, and things started off well. I told them that they could have items left on the counter in the garage. Later, after they left and after I gave them a large tip, I was looking around and realized that they "forgot" to pack some things from the kitchen and my daughter's room, a total of three boxes, which cost me an additional $275.00 to ship via Alaska Air Cargo. They also packed some items that were clearly marked "DO NOT LOAD". Then, I went to pack up some other items which they were not able to pack (alcohol, etc.), so I could ship it separately and realized these items were not where I asked the packers to leave them. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I decided to wait until we received our household goods in Juneau, to make sure they didn't pack them up and put them on the truck. Beforehand, the person who gave us the estimate told me to check with my homeowners' insurance in regards to the coverage for my goods in transport. I did, and since my items were covered, I decided not to get the "extra" insurance through WWM. She forgot to advise me to verify the amount of my deductible, and in the hustle of things, I neglected to ask as well,. My items arrived, and my brand new bed had a piece missing from the footboard, my headboard is scratched, and my brand new mattress has a nice big hole in it. I was told that since I did not purchase the insurance through WWM, they cover .60 cents per pound, and will send me a check for $132. The interesting thing is that they can't produce the piece that is missing from my footboard, so the packers must have broken it off BEFORE they put it in the truck. The fact of the matter is that they did not do their part and did not wrap my items well, and were in a hurry, and now I am being penalized. I have gone through every box, and the items I set aside are missing. It is obvious they were stolen from me. Of course WWM claims I "gave" these items to them. If I did, why didn't they take my perfume? They even took soda and Gatorade, which I DID NOT give them, but they left the case of bottled water behind. I am still unable to locate shoes and parts of the stroller. I am not sure why these items were not packed with like items. To sum it all up, we were lied to and WWM won't do the right and moral thing and replace my bed, so because of their unprofessionalism and sloppiness, I am stuck with a damaged piece of furniture that isn't even a year old.
