Dave and his son , also named Dave, are professional and very quiet for a construction crew. It takes a long time to get availability on their schedule because they are so busy but when they start they are fast. The bid was accurate to within reason. Dave was nice about a mid-job change in plans (on our part) and he quickly incorporated our new request for a very reasonable price. The fence and gates were all exactly level and straight. They used only the best boards and the overall quality of their work is very high.
Description of Work: Added fence and patched areas of existing fence to make yard safe for kids.

thank you for the positive review. I try to do the best job we can and it seems almost everybody agrees that we do top notch work. I have been flooded with calls this summer and it has been hard to keep up. I can't do them all. Thanks for waiting for your job to come up on my list of jobs to do list.

Dave and his son shopped for materials before coming to the job, and he arrived with everything he needed. Around noon he set up for work, removed the old door and installed the glass sliding door in just less than 6 hours, including all the trim. He cleaned up and hauled off all the trash and the old door. We were very please with the results and for sure we will use Dave's expertise again.
Description of Work: removed old sliding glass door and replaced with new one.

Thank you for calling us back again and again for your carpentry needs. This was a small job, a one day wonder as I call it, so you lucked out do to the fact that I had a delay on another job for the utilitiy locates. I saw the opportunity to get your job done at a moments notice, and it worked out great, otherwise this job was not going to be done for another month, I am that busy right now. My list of jobs in the summer tends to build up fast in the spring, and by may, I am booked up a month or so out. You are a old repeat customer , which was helpful, since we are both on the same page, and understand schedules changes, which are common in construction, especially remodeling, which at times you don't what your going to find when you open up something, and find a surprise, a can of worms. Your job was a piece of cake, even though it was a modification. I have been in this business so long, it is not very hard to find easy solutions to problem areas. See you next time, thanks

I didn't have to do anything but pay the bill!! Dave ordered the lumber, tools, supplies and he came in and went to work. It didn't take a lot as he was focused and wanted to get the job done. I really do like his work as he knows what he is doing and does it efficiently! I would recommend others to him and I have as his work is professional as well as he does it fast, efficient and is very detail oriented. He goes beyond the call of duty, when he see's something that needs done he does it to beautify or rectify a situation!! I like his work!! Even if it cost a little extra, I don't mind paying as it looks much better!!
Description of Work: Put up two beautiful, sturdy, large sheds that hold all my extra stuff and some!! I am very pleased with the outcome and I really do enjoy having them as they serve the purpose and with style. Thank you, Dave!

I love these repeat customers, I know them and they know me, that is why I get called back to do all of their carpentry needs. I have people think I do only one thing, They ask do you this or that too? I say well yes I do almost anything in the construction business. Some stuff I can do, but chose not to do it, depending on the amount of it, that needs to be done, eg: painting , sheetrock, mud and texture, if is a small amount, fine, large, I can refer to someone that does large jobs. The sheds we build are a little more that pre- fabs, I build them like a house, strong. Pre- fabs generally do not have beams, and are missing much more for structural strength. I will be seeing you at the start of winter to do your inside work that you have requested us to perform. Thanks for the review and understanding that I am buried alive in work now. Im glad you do not need it done today.

We are totally satisfied with the completely professional results. The price was quite reasonable. Our deck is once again a source of pride, instead of a crevasse health hazard`
Description of Work: Removed and rebuilt raised deck. Dave and his small crew did an excellent job and did the extra structural work that was revealed after removing the old deck. He consulted promptly on issues as they arose and carried out my instructions. I trust his judgment on construction decisions completely.

This job we were going to do in oct 2012. Im glad the customer changed his mind, when the special order trex decking was delayed. The job was a lot easier to do this late spring. The sunroom wall and joists were rotted from the inside out by water getting in and was found when we removed the old deck. That would not be fun to fix in winter. I fixed the problem with creative flashing and dripedge, plus caulking. These folks were great to work with and are very happy with the finished product, that makes me feel good as well. This was a deck job and I get almost to many calls for decks, they are fun to build and everybody likes are rail systems, they are built unique, I don't see any just like them. They are almost like interior finish grade, no exposed screws, lag bolts or big nail heads. We set the posts in the deck no on the outside, top and bottom rails with galvanized finish nails and exterior grade screws that when the picket run is installed, the screws are covered. the picket run is built between 1x2 with 2 1 and3/4 staples in each one top and bottom, I could go on but it is easier to just look at one of my pictures. We do a lot more than decks, I don't really want to be known as the deck man, Im also a over 20 year experience finish/ trim carpenter, I did new custom home finish work forever it seems. That gives a "rough carpentry " job that finish carpentry look of quality.

David Jensen and his son gets an A++++ for service and quality!! They were both wonderful to deal with and built me a work of art! His quality of work is top-notch and has great attention to detail. I told him what I wanted and he turned it into reality down to every last detail. His price is very reasonable for the amount of work he put into it and was worth every penny. After a year of having an unusable deck, I can finally enjoy it thanks to Dave. I would definitely hire him again for future jobs!
Description of Work: 2nd Story Deck Rebuild- Removed old stairs that was not built code and installed new stairs with new mid-level landing, Installed replaced posts and beam, prestained wood for railings, installed railings to code with stainless steel cables and Trex top caps. This job was interesting, due to the fact that it was a new deck when I started this job, the stairs were partly done and the landing, they were encroaching into the utilities easement. The city had shut the job down last year due to that and the guy doing the job had no business licence, bond or insurance. I had to tear down the stairs, landing, take out the home made beam, that was three 2x10's nailed together. We installed treated 4x 12 inch beams, cut a "L" shape out of the deck to accomadate for head room for the stairs coming off the new landing we built closer and taller to the the deck, so to be out of the easement. It was a lot of work to rebuild, shame the customer had to pay twice to get the job done. We built to his specs on rails etc, the cable rails are more work and money but give a great unobstructed view. This is a spendy deck and he had the materals there more or less. We stained the rail wood to match the grey trex, which turned out great, behr stain has colors that match composite decking this year, all brands. Also keep in mind this customer paid approx. 8000.00 in materials plus my 7000.00 labor. The moral to the story is get a contractor from angies list so you can see if they do good work and have proper licenceing.

I can't believe how uneventful this project was even though others had looked at the work to be done and commented on the difficulty and that is my testament to the skill and demeanor of these guys. Years of experience shone through every stage, we have absolutely no complaints. They even repaired previous work done by other contractors.
Description of Work: Jensen Construction replaced windows, sliding patio doors, flooring in the entryway and kitchen, kitchen counter top, back deck and saved a botched fireplace installation. Every step of the project was done in a professional manner and the end result is just amazing. These guys really know what they are doing, nothing fazed them. I highly recommend Dave and his son David.

thank you so much for the time you took to write a reveiw for jensen const. It was a pleasure working on your home, enjoyed the company also while we were working and your assitance with the moving of stuff around, since we were working all over your place. I for one am very pleased how all of the work turned out, glad you are happy with it also. It gives me great satifaction when my customers are please with the final product. I strive for perfection and that is how I approch all my jobs, that is just the way I do them. I started doing constuction when I was 18 years old and am 54 now, been doing it all my life basiclly. The guy I worked for when I was young was a stickler for quality so that is how I learned how a job is to be completed. I was told you were putting you house on the market and am sure you will get more money out of your home now, above and very beyond what was spent on all of the many upgrades and improvements that we completed.

Dave and his son completed some remodeling work on my home. Dave was very knowledgeable and had great ideas and clearly knew what he was doing. They were both easy to have in my home as they were friendly and respectful. Dave also did a number of odd "little" jobs around my house at no cost. Most of the work he did was very well done, however the last day he must have been in a hurry, because the fire taping in the boiler room was very poorly done and will require me to fix up. At the end of the project there were some difficulties. More specifically, the original quote he gave me was an underestimate of the costs he incurred and he submitted a bill to me that was significantly higher that what I agreed to pay based on the written estimate he provided. We went back in forth in negotiation and finally reached a settlement. Also, he left me a porch full of trash from the remodeling projects. I regret not having him come back and remove the trash before I paid him.
Description of Work: brought boiler room up to code by fire taping and sheetrocking. Put up trim around doors. Moved toilet. replaced flooring in bathroom. Put in trim. Hung two doors. Brought basement stairs up to code.

thanks for the review, sorry we had some communication issues. Some of the extra work we did was free of charge, but some additional work was agreed upon vebally, like the bath fan we installed with ducting out the side of the house. i said it would cost 100.00 to put it in, i assummed that it was known that it did not include the fan, and ducting itself, which put the overall materials cost of the job an extra 75.00. the toilet move was verbal also, but the material was only an extra 40.00. I will learn from this to be more clear and submit a change order in writing to avoid any confusion in the future. The fire tape job in the boiler room, which is it's own room with a pressuse tank, water heater and boiler, which was brought up to code by finishing the sheetrock and installing a 20 minute fire rated door, requires one coat of sheetrock taping mud to meet code, which is what most all garages are finished like. We could have done three coats, which is nessasary for a good finish ready for paint and or texture at an extra cost . I never heard that it was to be done to be painted, not many people paint boiler rooms. I understood that you where on a tight budget and kept the costs down and did appox 300.00 worh of work for free and gave an angies list discount also. I hope customers don't think I leave trash on a job, we left two job site type trash bags full of cut fireplace size wood for your fireplace, which makes for good kindling etc, there was alot of birch firewood outside, I thought I had mentioned that we going to leave it for you, sorry you did not want it. Glad you are happy with the work overall, I will try to be more clear in the future.

Thank you for calling us for this remodel project, the kitchen cabinets, countertops and new floor we did for you last year look good, the clear tinted finish you wanted to apply on the unfinshed oak cabinets yourself after we were done really brought out the woodgrain. Great to have return calls from satisfied homeowners, that is the way to do business.I enjoyed working there, and I'm sure i will be hearing from you again for the future upstairs bath renovations you mentioned were coming up down the road.

Our 1983 house still had the original windows; including 3 crank-open bedroom windows that couldn't have opened up far enough to let a child out, let alone an adult. They were wood framed, coming apart, and not doing a terribly good job of holding in the heat in the winter. Even worse, very few of them opened and it would become uncomfortably hot during the peak days of summer. We needed better insulated windows and most of them needed to be able to open for cooling during the warm months. Of the 3 quotes we ended up with, 2 were pretty close and seemed reasonable. Dave Jensen's quote may not have even been the lowest of the 3, if I recall correctly. His professional demeanor and confidence when he was at the house listening to what we wanted and taking measurements for the quote, coupled with the almost entirely good to excellent reviews on Angie's list, are what made us decide to choose Jensen Construction over the lower bid.... We just felt like we had a better chance of getting what we paid for. And we did! We were told it would take about 6 weeks for the windows to come in and it did take just about 6 weeks. There was about a 1/2 week delay after the windows arrived while Dave finished up the job he was already working on. We were fine with this as we assumed (correctly, it turns out) that he would do the same for us once he started on our house. Once they got started, Dave and his son took about a week from start to finish. They even set up an open framework tent in the driveway so they didn't have to stop when it rained, and we did have a couple of days of pretty serious rain while they were doing the work. Nothing of the old windows was salvageable so our new vinyl windows ended up with new sills and were framed in with all new materials, including the arches on the 3 front windows. They were really good about cleaning up as they worked. A headboard mirror did end up getting broken but they replaced it. I only mention it to illustrate that even if something does go wrong, Dave will make it right. Dave placed the order for the windows with Builders Millwork Supply here in Anchorage and then we went down and paid for them directly, which ended up costing slightly less than the original quote for materials. And on top of that, at the time Jensen Construction was giving a discount if you found them through Angie's List. Altogether, we paid almost $500.00 less than the original quote. We did end up with a few more warm days at the end of summer and we enjoyed being able to open enough windows so the house didn't turn into an oven. Since the weather turned cold, the house has been nice and warm. We've even had to turn down the heat a couple of times when the house stayed warmer than we expected it to. I kept forgetting to write the review despite getting occasional email about it from Angie's list. Then today my wife commented that she saw Dave was doing some sort of work at the house across the street from us. Apparently the neighbors think Jensen Construction does good work too. And that reminded me that I really did need to write this review.
Description of Work: Replaced all 10 windows in our 2 story house including: 3 Egress windows for the bedrooms 3 Arched windows in the 2nd floor living room. Framed in all the new windows including custom framing for the front windows. Did excellent work and completed the job almost $500.00 under the estimate.

Yes, it was a little late in the season to finish up a deck rail project, but as you stated, it could not wait till spring, not to safe to have someone fall off the deck 8 feet to the ground. We built the stairway also which is nice to have. i did not mind doing the job at 20 degrees, better than 20 below, so we fit you folks into our schedule before winter really hit and I am glad you where happy with the finished product.

Dave and his son quickly and accurately estimated the work, materials and cost for repairing a scam contractor's badly done flooring job and fireplace mantel, repairing stairs and removing old (out of code) wrought iron stair railings, covering a furnace exhaust pipe, expertly matching textured walls in the repairs and fixing everything they saw needing fixing. They were cheerful, very knowledgeable, efficient, thrifty and expert in all areas. Dave and his son were able to troubleshoot problems and provide top quality finish work in the solutions. Dave had an eye on our budget and would steer us away from unnecessary expenses. Doing things right the first time was a theme I noticed over and over in their work. Dave was able to take our ideas, and the failures of a previous contractor and design and execute professional and top quality finish work. They were able to finish in 2 weeks problems that had been dragging along for 11 months! We will welcome Dave and David Jensen back anytime the need arises, and would gladly recommend them. We felt like we were in good hands and wish we had hired them first.

I was a little hesitant to take on a job that someone started and messed up. So we took one item at a time to deal with what needed to be done. I am glad you had confidence in us after we got some of the work completed, baseboard, mantle with fluted columns, then just just moved on to build new maple rails and staircaps. I myself really got alot of satifaction from doing your project, it turned out beautiful and got everything done the way it should have been.I know for a fact that there are not alot of contractors that would have been able to come with the solutions that worked well in some of the areas we just had to sit down and go with the best options that were feasable and it all worked out perfect. Glad to have you happy and end you contruction ordeal that some other guy put you through. Having dealt with many contractors over the years, I have not found many who showed up when needed and did above and beyond what they promised. Dave and his crew were a pleasure to work with. And, having been a finish carpenter showed in the quality of his outdoor work too. We did delay our project several times but since our plans were not priority for us Dave showed amazing ability (as busy as I know he was) to adapt his schedule to our needs and the weather. The initial bid for our project plus the addition of a shed were very reasonable. I thank Dave and his crew for the excellant work they did and thank Angie's list for bringing us together. When faced with any additional repairs or construction, I'll be calling on Jensen Construction first.

This job was certainly different, we enjoyed rebuilding it. The old roof had three layers of fiberglass panels on the roof and were rotten, leaking and did not let light through much at all. The rafters were only 2x4,s. We used 4x4,s with 2x4 blocking every 2 ft. acroos all rafters. The use of lexan panels for the roof and some areas of walls worked out well. Two layers of panels did the trick, thermopane with gap between all panels. Glad you no have lots of sun coming through. The room is an addition on the house with doorway leading to it, always heated, so we had to make sure it was sealed well.It turned out great with no condensation problems. I will be back when I get time, to replace the front door on your home that you requested to be done after all your interior painting is completed. Thank you for the review

Day one- Came on time, around 9am dropped off tools, went to get supplies, came back after short period of time, went straight to work, installed all three doors and locks in the first day and insulated as well. Left around 4pm. Day Two- Came about 9 exactly. Finished all detail work with doors (trim, molding inside and out). Started on Pantry and desk in closets, asked me where all shelving was to be done ( how many shelves, how much room I needed for certain things). Finished pantry and almost finished the desk with shelves. Left about 4pm. Day 3- Came at 9. Finished desk area, added an outlet in the closet for us. Fixed holes in floor do to pervious shelving. Started new closet next to washer and dryer. Made custom space for vacuums, and a place to hang laundry/coats, and shelves for laundry necessities in the new closet. Fixed old bifold doors on the desk closet. Fixed a lose door on pantry. Looked at everything together, talked about future jobs we would eventually need done. They cleaned up and left around 2.

Also built us a pantry in a closet in our kitchen, built a closet next to our washer and dryer, and built a desk/entertainment area in a large closet that has bifold doors. Great work, and they only took 2 1/2 days to finish everything. He also fixed a few things that he saw needed fixing, little things like our door bell, some laminate that was peeling and a lose door. Very nice, and professional experience.

pleasure doing businees with you, I always like to ask again about the way you want to see the job done, as you envisoned it. People generally explain what they want ,as design goes. I find asking again, when old stuff is removed and I can lay it out in front of you,and it can be fine tuned as to what will work best and it is finished the way YOU want it. I would be happy to do any future work for you. I will make up a bid soon for the cost of installing a engineered hardwood floor in your home. Thanks for the positive review and the job. I tend to be a bit asocial but, Dave never was......Dave would always update me on where they were on the project and how long each step was going to take, which was nice because i was always informed on the progress.....I was happy that I was able to step back, let them do their thing and they nailed it.....plus, i am a night shift worker and was glad to just sleep straight through them working......except for the few times each day of waking up and yelling at the dogs to shut the heck up (sometimes they would go a bit crazy seeing people doing stuff to our house.....and one gets riled up, the rest go a bit insane too!!!) So, I loved that I basically stepped back and said "do what you got to do, i'm fine with the same thing we had" and he made it better...... I will definately be using his services again, we are slowly fixing up our house and we are terribly uncreative. I would like to thank Dave, his son, his helper and even his family (yes even they came by on some nice sunny days and helped haul stuff and paint and whatnot)..........
Description of Work: Dave Jensen and his mini crew did an awesome job redoing our deck. Our deck was basically rotting away and the stairs had become dangerous for our mastiffs to stand on. He asked me what exactly i wanted done. I said i wanted the deck redone. He asked me if i had any specifics, I said, uhhhhh a new deck.......Right away, he already had great suggestions... I basically had no idea of exactly what i wanted other than a replacement deck and the finished product was beyond my expectations....He even got the color perfect, i didn.t even pick one out........it's like he knew(he actually might be a mind reader or something)...He reinforced the boards which extend all the way into the house to protect them from rotting, he even fixed my outdoor electrical socket (sure it just took a flip of a breaker switch but, neither me or my mom had a clue).................... The quality of the deck is outstanding, i really love how he built the posts of the deck into in it rather than just tacking it on (i.ve always had a fear of leaning on the deck and it breaking and me plunging down. there he went reading my mind again!) We had a special request that a small part of the deck have a solid fenced part so our dogs don.t see and bark at passing dogs (we don.t want to be THOSE people, with the annoying dogs that bark when they are outside). He even built it within the "normal" deck, so if we ever want to sell the house we can just remove the fenced area......

thank you for the wonderful reveiw. The job wnet well and since i have been doing carpentry for over 30 years I preety much know how to go about getting it done the way you want it, plus looking down the road so the project is going to have great curb appeal to future home buyers. That is why I ask for you suggestions, then voice mine, with explanations on the pros and cons about the do's and don'ts. I enjoyed working with you and your mom and hope you give me a call when you get ready to remodel your kitchen cabinets. I have installed probably 1000 kitchens and can offer many different layout designs. So thanks for having us construct your new deck, I think the dogs like it.

They gave me a bid, ordered all the wood from Home Depot and started performing the job. From start to finish it was amazing to see it transform.
Description of Work: When calling Jensen Construction they came to review and estimate what needed to be done and was and has always been. They go beyond the call of duty and are fast and efficient. I needed a total restore of my rotten handicap ramp at my Assisted Living Business and Mr. Jensen came in and pulled out the rotten one and put in a new one and it is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!! It has enhanced my property, home and business to see a sturdy ramp that the resident's are glad to walk down. It is very welcoming. Thanks to Jensen Construction I have a new ramp, sheds and other work that needed paid attention to the Mr. Jensen spared no pain in making correct. I really appreciate him and all he does for me and my families repairs. Thank you, Jensen Construction

glad we got evevything done you needed before winter hit. The ramp was dangerous and i was surprized you did not mention it when we came to build the two 12x 10 sheds side by side with electrical outlets and lights.Im happy you went with my suggestion to build two instead of one giant shed, the reason was, so if it had to be moved for some reason a fork lift could easily move a 12x10 size. The mateial may have come from home depo, but it was not a kit. We built own own on my design, which inclulded 4x8 ridge beams and beam over the double doorway, also 2x6 rafters with hurracane clips. Our construction was alot better than any kit, and the price of materail was a little less. The fire marshal had said you can not use the ramp any more, I found out after I saw the orange cones at the top and bottom. That said I am happy that you are so thrilled with the new one we built, even though I had another job scheduled after the sheds were done. I called my next job and they were very understanding, so we got the time to get the ramp completed. I will be seeing you this sunday to go over the insulation job in the attic and you 4 plex attic job i will oversee for you, since I don't like to insulate, but the guy that I will set up up with will do a good job, since I will be checking it before he gets paid. You are a long time loyal customer and I am looking after your best interests, and look forward to the next job this winter getting your 2nd asssited living home up to par before it opens, thanks again for using jensen const, dave jensen, owner and worker.

We had our deck quoted and priced in April. We were on a very long wait list to bet it done. As the summer is so short we were anxious to get it done before summer ended. Once they started They worked very fast and efficiently even over the 4th of July holiday to get it finished. From start to finish took less than 5 business days. We had it inspected once it once completed and they were very impressed with the quality and level of detail they used. Dave did his best to save money where he could but did not save money to sacrifice quality.
Description of Work: We expanded our second level deck by 5 feet in width and had a stair case built to the ground. We had existing Trex decking that was discontinued. Dave searched all over town and to all 6 stores to get enough matching Trex so we would not have to replace current decking. Dave also salvaged all of the exiting t-11 so we could use it again to save us money.

It has been a very busy year, and i appreciate everybodys patience. I am still booked up a month and a half out. I just love doing quality work that is why i do not have a big crew. Your job turned out great and i am glad you are happy with it. Also I appreciate the time you spent giving me a reveiw, not everyone does that when the job is finished, thanks again, Dave jensen, owner and boss of Jensen construction

The rainy weather created some delays as expected, however, Dave Jensen completed the project in my projected time frame.
Description of Work: Dave Jensen from Jensen Contruction removed my old deck and replaced it with a new stained one, he added seating benches at my request. My deck is large, it extends the whole width of my house. I am very pleased with the finished product and plan on using him again next summer to replace two walkways leading from the deck to the lower level of my yard.

yet another satisfied customer. she was easy to work with and i made sure the replacment and design was what she wanted as we stared to rebuild this deck that was very rotten. It is always my policy to work with the homeowner to show and ask if the planned design is what they want before we go to the next stage of construction. The built in bench seats turned out great, sinple and strong. I will be looking forward to coming back next year to do the long walkways to the lakefront. Thankyou for the review

Dave was excellent at troubleshooting optional solutions, designing custom finish work, communicating his ideas and executing budget-conscious yet professional looking work. Dave was fast, reasonably priced and produced professional work.Would definitely recommend Dave to a friend. Wish we had hired him sooner.
Description of Work: Dave and his son completed a long list of misc tasks. We had completely remodeled our own 3,300 sq ft Turnagain home over the course of 5 years, but had not completed much of the finish work (mostly floor and window trim, etc). Because our home was built in 1961 and remodeled several times over the years, we had several places where the trim needed to transition from old work to new work and the cuts/patches needed to be custom. Dave also replaced all of our inside doors, which needed to be custom cut and hung to fit our pre-earthquake home.

They did excellent work for us and as far as we are concerned they went the extra mile. We were replacing ouf sliding door with the french door for two reasons. One was for the energy savings and the second, which was most important, was to improve access to our house for our wheelchair dependent son who lives with us. The store where we bought the door said for an additional $450.00 they could have a wheelchair accesible threshold installed on the door. Because of budget constraints we elected not to do this. After explaining this do Dave and his son they set to work and fixed the threshold so that it was level with the floor and my son can now go in and out without causing any damage to the door frame. Needless to say this was done for less then what the store wanted to charge us. We are extremely pleased with our new windows and doors and appreciate the professional quality work they performed for us. We now know who to call for our next project.
Description of Work: We hired Jensen Construction to install to install new windows, a French patio door and two other entry doors into our home.

i am glad you are satisfied with the job we did for you, it went pretty smooth. I didn't mind spending some extra time to get the exterior french door down as low as i could, right down on the sub floor and not just on top of the finished floor height. I believe if your doing a job, do it right, the first time. Thanks for the report

We went through several discussions on designs and ran into delays because of weather and other building commitments that Dave had previously made. However, some of the delays actually resulted in a better end result than was expected. I had ideas, Dave had ideas, his son had ideas....in the end, I ended up with a structure that is exactly what I wanted. Dave was very helpful in making me aware of undesirable structural designs and anything that would be dangerous. I have physical limtations that Dave was very conscious of and provided helpful ideas to make my use of the hottub more comfortable. Although the project took longer than expected, it is a nice addition to the deck and I am very happy with it.
Description of Work: After finishing a deck project for me, I asked Dave to build a gazebo type structure to surround my hottub which was already sitting on a prebuilt platform. I wanted it to be an addition to the end of the deck and look like it blended.

Met Dave at the house at the scheduled appointment time where he took measurements and we discussed the work to be completed. Within a few days, he came back with some numbers and ideas on how best to proceed. After he completed one or two scheduled jobs he came by with his crew and began construction. During construction we discussed some concerns I had regarding additional bracing and support beyond the planned sonotubes he installed. After discussion, he bolstered the supporting pillars with additional brackets by placing brackets to allow the rebar to protrude through, fastening the bracket to the sonotube and then bolting the pillars to the brackets. As his crew was staining the wood structural supports to match the color of the Trex we selected, we realized the color of the stain did not match closely enough. Dave concocted a stain color compilation to very closely match the existing Trex, which ultimately paid off significantly in the final product. Finally, the last addition/change to the existing plan was to add more fascia to the outside of the pillars which he completed immediately. Overall. the experience was outstanding. Dave and his crew were flexible, approachable and professional. Dave was willing to discuss all aspects of the job and any ideas I had for improvement. i believe this was the first job of that sort they had ever completed and in the end, we were all fairly satisfied. As you can see, it has taken me a long time to write a review. This was obviously due to my own procrastination and in no way a result of the experience. I would and actually have recommended Jensen Construction to my friends.

thanks for remembering to write up a review for the deck job.i have built alot of decks, but it was only the second trex type deck we had done. I think people shy away from this deck board material due to the higher cost. The trex and vanardo brand decking wont rot or ever need staining or painting, it is a plastic type that looks like wood so in the long run it is very cost effective. The staining we did matched well after combining two colors. i wanted the wood rails we built to come as close as possible to the trex. the rail systems for the trex is pretty much special order, depending on the color, and is also quite a bit more expensive. The rails don't take as much abuse from weather so your choice of having us make the rails worked out fine, and they look like the trex system for a lot less money and wait. thanks again for the reveiw, better late than never. I have done other jobs that the customers don't bother, maybe due to the fact the job is finished, so they might simply forget, so thanks again
