Hard to get a hold of-- phone or email. Contractor (owner) was there at start of job but left soon after so he did not supervise the job but was prompt to collect. Apparently busy doing other jobs that day. Workers did a good job, kept things clean. Were on time to do the job. Moved right along. Good price.
Description of Work: Attic insulation and air sealing, blown-in cellulose and fiberglas batts

He sent his two assistants to do the work and do the blower tests. I told Landon from the very beginning that I needed copies of checks or credit card receipts in order to get reimbursed for his services. I received the credit card receipt for the first part. He did not participate in the work. I needed a cement block wall in my basement laundry room to be covered and sealed by foamboard to stop air leaks. They, his assistants, did this, but didn't cover or seal the foamboard with drywall and insulation. This foamboard is very flammable and is not meant to be the final step in the air sealing process. I called Jeff Jenkins, my energy pre and post auditor from Alaska Professional Energy Ratings, Inc.. regarding this, who told me it was below code, and that they shouldn't have left it this way. Landon, again, sent his men out to cover the foamboard with drywall and to seal it with fireproof tape, but charged me an additional $250.00 to do so. My auditor told me that I should not have been charged the additional $250. My credit card was run again, but I could never get the receipt from Landon Lankard. He would not return my phone calls, so therefore, I most likely won't be reimbursed for his additional charge.
Description of Work: I hired Landon Lankard to check for air leaks in my home under the energy rebate program.

I initiated contact with this company by leaving a voicemail indicating interest in getting an estimate. I didn't hear back for several days, leading me to believe they weren't interested. Finally, I received a call and the owner was apologetic, explaining he and his family had been sick. Fair enough. I arranged a meeting with him for an estimate and he showed up promptly, took detailed notes and assured me the work could be done quickly, easily and for a good price. I got a second quote, but decided to go with Energy Savings Solutions on the basis that the price was little better and they had blower equipment that would allow us to see how well they were doing with the sealing (I was having this work done for the energy rebate program). The crew showed up on time. However, I was not initially satisfied with their work and it was difficult to get in touch with the owner (even when I asked the crew, they said they didn't have a cell number for him. I ended up communicating through voicemail, and email throughout the project). The insulation blown into the attic was uneven, and at best 3and quot; short from the estimate. A large hole in the wall that they sealed was done shoddily and I wouldn't recommend them for finish carpentry. When I communicated this to the owner, he was very apologetic and sent the crew back to blow in more insulation and fix some of the items I was not satisfied with. They did an adequate job the second time. Overall, I felt the job was rushed and they cut many corners. I had to ask them to do things that as professionals, they should have known was important , such as seal the vapor barrier in the crawl space and ensure there was adequate ventilation under the eaves into the attic. I would recommend them for basic weatherization work, but only if you have time to watch them closely.

We got the whole house energy rating up to 4 1/2 stars, over 18 months. Our energy bill has dropped. I give them high ratings and will use them in the future if I have to.
Description of Work: They are contractors that put insulation in our roof and did the door test.
