Description of Work: This appointment was for an oil change. Best prices on oil changes for Diesel Ford trucks around. Previously they had to diagnose a drivability issue, found the problem quickly and repaired it quickly as well.

We have used them in the past for major mechanical work and they always are fair in their charges. They do not do anything that is not needed and will give you options for any major work that needs done. They do not pressure you to have unneeded work done.

+ 0 moreRon at Different Strokes Of Alaska is fair and he stands behind his work. I drove from Alaska to Montana and back three years ago and I had something go wrong on my truck that he had just replaced. I ended up having to get it fixed in Montana and when I got back he reimbursed me for the part that they fixed. It was a little plug relay and it shouldn't have gone bad because it was pretty well brand-new. So he is trustworthy, honest, and has integrity. Ron has a full line of mechanics and I won't take my truck anywhere else. He only deals in Ford Diesels. They have a waiting area with magazines and cable TV to watch. There's coffee and if you go there on Fridays you might get a doughnut that he buys for his employees.... My truck is a personal vehicle but I use it for work also.
Description of Work: Different Strokes Of Alaska did an oil change on my FT 50 diesel pickup.

+ -1 moreOur vehicle was orignally in another shop, and we had to have it towed to Different Strokes for the completion of the work. The vehicle was done when promised, and done well. The owner kept in contact with us, and worked with us on the issues the orignal shop caused. He went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of. I would definalty reccomend Different Strokes to anyone.

+ -1 moreAWESOME. I called, made an appointment and took it in Mar 23rd 2011. The truck was done on the 26th however I couldn't pick it up until the following Monday because they wanted to put it on the rack to inspect it and ensure there was nothing else wrong with it. I was bummed but I understand why they did it. I picked up the truck on Monday and it runs like just fine. I forgot to mention they do have a military discount. I really appreciated that.
Description of Work: My 2003 F250 6.0L was leaking coolant from the degas bottle. I went to get some coolant and Ron (the owner)said without even looking at the truck that the head bolts were stretching. I took it to Kendall in Wasilla for a second opinion and they stated the same after diagnosing it. Kendall was gonna take a week to do the job but DSoA did it in 3. VERY Professional service. DSoA replaced the head bolts with ARP studs, replaced the EGR cooler with a Bullet Proof cooler, oil cooler, of course replaced all needed O rings and gaskets, Updated turbo drain tube, 1 new injector, EGR valve. I also had them order an SCT Livewire tuner.They also replaced two sway bar link bushings. Parts were just over 3k and labor was just over 3k. These guys are the best in the Anchorage area and have a lifetime customer with me. They also guaranteed their work.

+ -1 moreAfter having the dealership tell me I would have to wait two weeks before they could look at my truck, I took it toDifferent Strokes of Alaska on the advise of a co-worker. I dropped it off at noon on the 28th of December and I had it back completely serviced and repaired on the 29th. THey gave me an estaimate to clean the carbon out of the turbo charger and EGR valve. On the motning of the 29th they called and said the EGR valve had failed, and qouted the parts price. WHen I arrived to pick it up the told me that the turbocharger was in good shape and showed me the EGR valve that had failed. The valve would not close properly which was the cause of the performance problem. A good experience all around for me.
Description of Work: Ford 6.0 Diesel engine performance issue. R&R turbocharger and replaced EGR valve.
