+ -1 moreDave was just a few minutes late, but it wasn't anything inconvenient at all. He looked at my fridge to try and troubleshoot why it wasn't staying cool. He performed a manual defrost of my freezer, because he thought that ice buildup may be blocking the airflow to the fridge. After the manual defrost, he put everything back together and said to give it a few hours and see what happens. It worked. Haven't had a problem since and my fridge is staying nice and cool. He was probably at my house for about 30-45 minutes and he didn't charge me anything for this. It was very nice of him. I would call him back if I had any appliance issue.
Description of Work: My refrigerator was not staying cold, it was about 55 degrees one day. So, I called Dave the Appliance Guy. He got it working again and now it is working fine.

+ -1 moreI have had Dave come over 5 - 6 times now; he helped with the washer/dryer/dishwasher problems in our rental, plus my son's home and mine. I can only echo the comments of the others; Dave is HONEST, prompt, doesn't leave a mess and he knows what he is doing. His fees are more than reasonable. He not only addresses the immediate problem, he also does a bit of a tune-up and gives advise to prevent future problems. I will keep using him until he retires ........ he is a gem.
Description of Work: My washer (7 years old) would not agitate when I closed the lid .... it was the switch on the hinge. Dave had diagnosed it over the phone when I scheduled with him so until he could come, all I had to do was lean on the lid to make it work! What a help over the weekend to get the laundry done!

+ -1 moreDave arrived early. He thoroughly checked out the washer. Turned out the hose that empties the washer had loosened. Not surprising after 15 years of use. He tightened the clamp and it was good to go. I would definitely call him again for any appliance repair.

+ -1 moreWhen my electric dryer stopped heating up I was uncertain whether to have it repaired or replaced. I called Dave and asked him a lot of questions about repairing the dryer. He answered all of them knowledgeably, without acting like they were stupid or that I should already know the answers to them. I was so happy at how thoroughly he answered my questions I set up an appointment to have my dryer serviced. When Dave arrived to fix the dryer he showed me how to open the bottom panel so that I could clean out the bottom of the dryer, which I didn't know about the whole fifteen years I had owned the dryer. This will lower the fire risk. Dave cleaned out the bottom of the dryer and replaced the heating element. It was definitely the right choice to repair the dryer rather than replacing it. I highly recommend Dave if you need an appliance repaired.

Description of Work: Dave returned my phone call promptly. I described the problem with my oven to him. He asked some questions, and made some suggestions of things to try even though he was not able to service it since it was an electronic oven and he is not certified to service that type of oven. I would certainly call him for service again for service. He seemed knowledgeable and helpful.

He did arrive about 10 minutes late, but as he was fixing our oven he discovered that someone had tried to and quot;fixand quot; some of the wiring with duct tape and it had mostly melted into a few other wires and could've started a fire. Although he found other things he had to fix, he was amazing fast and he was in and out of our house in about 20 minutes. He's not the most personable as he's fairly quiet, but he's courteous and does a nice job of explaining what needs to be fixed.
Description of Work: Our oven had gone out and would no longer light, so he initially came to fix this problem. Along the way he discovered a cheap and dangerous "fix" to some of our wires, so he had to replace some wires and a switch inside the oven. "

Dave was punctual and courteous. I will use him again in the future if I have anymore problems with appliances. He even trimmed my dryer hose at no charge.

+ -1 moreWe have used Dave for all of our appliance repairs for close to 10 years. He is very responsive to requests and he has a lot of experience with different appliances/brand names. One of the things I like most about him is that he will tell you if he thinks he doesn't have the experience to fix the item but usually he is and quot;gameand quot; to try and 98% of the time he ends up being able to fix it. He has a lot of common sense and excellent experience and amazingly, his charges are always very reasonable. Dave is a very honest and knowledgable person and I won't hesitate to call him for any other repairs I need in the future.
Description of Work: We have used Dave for many repairs of various appliances around the house. I won't be able to remember everything he has done for us but recently he repaired our oven, clothes dryer and dishwasher.

Description of Work: I have a stackable washer and dryer and the dryer had a sqeak. Dave disasembled the dryer unit and found that the drum bearing was worn out and replaced the bearing and then cleaned and vaccumed the entire unit. He did a good job of cleaning up. Of course he did use my vaccum.

+ -1 moreOver the years, Dave has done two repairs for me, once on a dishwasher and once a clothes dryer. Both times he was quick, prompt, courteous, and very reasonably priced. On several other occasions, Dave has saved me money by talking me through a problem over the phone. He once fixed my dishwasher for free without every coming out by spending 15 minutes on the phone troubleshooting potential causes. He is asks lots of questions in advance of a service call and will tell you if the repair is beyond his abilities. He is a no-nonsense, honest guy. I recommend Dave to everyone I know!

+ -1 moreI made an appointment with Dave. He showed up exactly on time. Whenm he got into the oven, the igniter was working (kind of) although not well. I had him replace it anyway, but he made certain to ask if that was what I wanted. If I had decided not to replace the igneter, there would have been no charge. The repair was complete in less than half an hour, and the oven works fine now. I might mention that I used Dave once previously to work on a very old washing machine (over thirty years old). Parts for this washer were no longer commerically available, and the problem was a defective timer. Dave spent well over an hour adjusting the broken timer and got the machine to work, although he cautioned me that it was only a matter of time before it broke again. He offered to search for the proper part used, but I told him not to bother. Because the repair was not ideal, he charged me only $30 for his time. Thge machine held up for another six months and then failed completely in another respect, and I replaced it. I can only say that I appreciated Dave's persistence, fairness and honesty. I would certainly call him again.

Description of Work: Dave checked out our oven which wasn't working properly and found that it would need a new control board. He estimated that parts and labor would probably be over $250 and as the range was at least 10 years old we decided to get a new one instead. Dave arrived on time and seemed to know what to check.
