Description of Work: They remodeled two bathrooms. It took 3 weeks to do a 1 week job on my |master bedroom shower bath. The work was fine but the tine was unbearable. After talking to the owner he got things going and it took 5 days to do the |main bathroom and they did a good job. I was happy with the results, but |initially they were disorganized and it took too long.

This man is a scammer! Run Away While You Can! He lied and took the money of a military family with a pregnant wife and toddler whose husband was gone for most weeks. If he feels no conscious scamming us then everyone is at risk to lose money and have their homes damaged by this man. This has been a nightmare experience. Both our bathrooms were gutted for this job meaning that we had no shower or bath upstairs and were living with only a half bath and a camp shower on our back deck,. After 6 weeks of constant let down and being nowhere close to a completion date, I was seriously questioning the quality of work I was seeing and the integrity of this company. I called in additional licensed contractors to get some opinions on the work. We have now had 2 plumbing contractors and the city inspector say it is some of the worst plumbing they have seen. Illegal joints and connections, zero venting for all drains, improper materials used, drains sloping up from the outlet and not down. Air is now in the baseboards and we are having to fix that as well. The electrician that came by said the electrical was also not to code and Denali windows came by and confirmed that the windows were installed in the wrong orientation and without headers. The absolute worst part of this is that our structure has now been compromised. They drilled into the supporting joists for plumbing and positioned the holes so that the joists now need to be replaced or have sister joists attached. I'm still waiting for an estimate on how much this would cost. Darryl is a licensed general contractor with the state, not the city, and is not licensed to perform plumbing or electrical work. If you decide to hire him, even after this review, demand to see the licenses of any plumber and electrician that turns up at your house. Even if all this had not happened, they have been behind schedule at every turn. Some days no one worked at all while other days they might have been here for 1 - 2 hours. The drywall was patched badly and the texture effect very sloppy. We have had issues with damage done to the ceiling beneath the bathroom, electrical wires cut and effecting lighting in the rest of the house. We were told we were a priority but 7 weeks later my family are still taking camp showers on our back deck. We have fired Darryl and are now collecting evidence in case the legal action is needed. We have hired a new company and are just hoping that we can get the bathrooms completed and done right. UPDATE *** After months of Darryl telling us he would do the right thing and reimburse us, we finally realized he was full of lies and just trying to cheat his way out of all costs. He would cancel meeting us at the last minute or say he didn't receive our emails. Unfortunately, in the end, we had to use a lawyer to finally get an agreement that we would be reimbursed for the cost of all repairs needed to correct the work Cornerstone had done. Total cost of repairs - over 30,000. This does not include the 18000 we had given him for the work performed. I did not get the impression that we would get any money from them until legal matters were started and I am saddened that it had to come to that. We gave Darryl nearly 4 months to be a good guy and do the right thing before going to a lawyer. I was also very pregnant by the end of all this, yes I was 3 months pregnant when they started the work, and legal action was the last option. UPDATE #2*** He signed a contract to cover all costs on the very last day of summons. Since then we have had late repayments, more lies, and a bounced check. Looks like we'll be seeing this guy in court.

While Darryl is a nice guy, his assistant Elisha is trying her best to cover up for her boss. For example: changes could not be made because the cabinets had been ordered already while the orders were never executed. We were misled to believe that progress was being made. Communication is lacking: calls not being returned, text messages, emails and voicemails getting lost due to 'technical difficulties', appointments not kept. We cannot in good conscience recommend this contractor.
Description of Work: We had a contract for $12000 for a kitchen remodel and paid 50% down in October 2013 for work to be done while we were out of state. Upon our return in Dec. we found that nothing was done. We cancelled the project on ...and had to wait over 2 months for our refund, thus preventing us from hiring a new contractor.

UPDATE #2*** Well their first repayment date according to the agreement contract had come and gone and we still didn't have a check from them. Even performing 30 - 50 remodels a year is no excuse for being late on a repayment, especially the first, when they have clearly stated that they take full financial responsibility. They have a 2 week grace period and we received the payment within this time.

Response from Cornerstone Remodel & Design
This was an unfortunate project performance, Cornerstone has been doing business for over 10 years and has never had such a situation like this one. An overwhelmed project manage and a hurried timeline created a very undesirable result. Cornerstone performs 30 to 50 remodels a year, a sample of our capacity is available on our website, and we perform very well 99% of the time, evidence by the BBB A rating, time in business and depth of contracts successfully completed. Cornerstone takes full financial responsibility for the project. As a result of this project we have implemented quality control inspectors for each project, customer care personnel and project manager work loads that are suitable for individual capacity. We are sadden that the client was so inconvenienced and that our company is associated with this mess. We have made necessary changes to ensure no future performances by our operation.
