All About Flooring

Charles came out to give a bid and I accepted. He took me to the store to pick a grout color and needed supplies. He came to do the job. I had a question about using wonderboard under the tile. He said it wasn't necessary as the flooring installed was enough. The job looked great. He did say it wasn't necessary to seal the grout, even though everybody I had talked to said it should be sealed. At the time I thought it looked great (So did Charles; he even included pics of the job in his ad.) I also had him replace a board in the laminate floor in another room Forward a couple months. The grout started chipping away in the kitchen. I didn't do anything immediately, as I was having surgery and didn't want to have anyone over. A couple months afterward, I called Charles and told him about the grout chipping away and the "hollow" feeling of the tiles when stepped on. He came over, looked at it and said it was probably just a bad bag of grout. He said he would go back to the store, get a new bag and come over to replace the grout at 12:00 the next day. That was the last I saw of him, despite repeated calls to his number. I always got his voicemail. He never returned my calls. I really think he realized not using the backing material was a goof and didn't want to replace the floor. I am really disappointed; he seemed like a decent honest guy.

Charles preformed this job in a very unprofessional way his lack of knowledge required me buying two extra boxes of flooring due to his waste. It took him three days to lay the floor and will not come back to fix the holes he left in the floor. He charged me $70 to dispose of the garbage then put the garbage in my neighbors dumpster.. I made the mistake of paying him before the job was completed. If you make the mistake of hiring him I recommend do not doing this you will never hear from him again. The flooring looks like it was laid by a amatuer. There are joints that do not meet correctly and holes from bad cuts that are very visible. I am having to use having to use half inch trim to cover the edges. This was suppose to be a floating floor but he nailed it in places. I strongly recommend not using this company his shoddy work has taken the fun out of my remodel.
