I took my laptop to ACTS because the power cord was loose. It took me a while to decide where to take my laptop because I don't like the idea of bringing something so personal to someone I don't know. I ended up bringing it to ACTS because they are located close to my house and looked like a small business, the kind I like to deal with. It was a mistake. As soon as I got there I didn't think it was the best place to bring a computer it was dusty and messy inside, but I didn't think that meant the service was necessarily bad. It was. I was quoted an hour's labor and a $30 part, and a few days turnaround time. It ended up being a few weeks to get the work done, during which time they called me and said the part would actually be $120 and they would have to order it. So I waited, meanwhile I swung by to check on the progress, I found my computer was stored in a pile of parts on one of the counters. Finally it was finished and I went to pick it up to find out that the original $80-90 quote had ballooned to $180, but I thought at least it's done! Only to find out the original problem was misdiagnosed and rather than fixing the problem they replaced a perfectly fine working part. The problem was actually a new $5 power cord. And to top it off they broke my DVD drive. As fantastic as this story seems it actually happened. Worst service I have ever had anywhere, ever. I hope they change the way they do business because this is a disservice to the community. If your looking to support local small business like I do, avoid this place.
