About the team:

Domain Knowledge is a brand new function focused on building services trades expertise through in-depth research across trades such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and more. By leveraging our trades expertise and a deep understanding of customer needs, we aim to drive a superior user experience and build customer trust. Our mission is to translate this research into actionable insights, inform strategic initiatives, and drive decisions across the organization by collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and senior leadership. This function is responsible for developing and running the research process, building a knowledge base, disseminating information and insights across the organization, and owning core content like the Homeowner Q&A. We work closely with several teams including product, design, analytics, data science, marketing, care, and operations.

What you’ll do:

As an Insights Analyst for Domain Knowledge, you will explore the nuances of the trades on our platform, diving deep into the details to drive superior user experiences and build trust with both homeowners and Pros. Your work will blend qualitative research, quantitative analysis, and strategic recommendations to enhance our platform and improve key outcomes like lead quality, job completion rates, and satisfaction. This role requires exceptional curiosity, a strong interest in user behavior and research, and an aptitude for thorough analysis. You should be comfortable rolling up your sleeves to integrate and align insights from multiple sources—qualitative and quantitative—to form a cohesive understanding and actionable recommendations.

Conduct Targeted Research & Analysis:

  • Analyze internal and external data sources to uncover trends and actionable insights.
  • Lead qualitative interviews with tradespeople and homeowners to understand trade practices, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Evaluate platform performance and customer behavior to make recommendations that improve user experiences and matching outcomes.

Make Strategic Recommendations:

  • Synthesize both qualitative and quantitative findings into clear, actionable insights to guide product and content strategy.
  • Present findings in visual and narrative formats to diverse audiences, ensuring accessibility and impact.
  • Recommend and prioritize the most impactful initiatives to address first, ensuring focus on areas with the highest potential business value.

Collaborate Across Teams:

  • Act as a subject matter expert on the trades across the organization, advising on strategies to improve the homeowner and Pro experience.

Monitor Industry Trends:

  • Stay informed on changes in the trades, emerging technologies, and market dynamics to identify innovation opportunities.
  • Build a network of trade contacts to refine insights and maintain a pulse on industry shifts.

Who you are:

  • You have 1-5 years of experience in consumer insights, analytics, strategy, or a related field.
  • You are proficient in business analysis and data analysis tools, including advanced Excel and data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Looker). Experience with SQL is a plus.
  • You thrive on learning about new industries and creatively leverage available tools, data, and networks to uncover actionable insights.
  • You are comfortable conducting qualitative interviews and interpreting the data, excelling at synthesizing both qualitative and quantitative insights to drive strategy.
  • You are motivated by seeing your insights lead to measurable improvements in business outcomes.
  • You excel at managing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality outputs in fast-paced environments.
  • Familiarity with the trades or home services is a plus.
  • This is a new and growing team, so comfort with ambiguity and the ability to build processes from scratch are essential. Experience in a startup or fast-paced, iterative environment is highly valued.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • The base salary band for this position ranges from $60,000-$110,000, commensurate with experience and performance. Compensation may vary based on factors such as cost of living.
  • This position will be eligible for a competitive year-end performance bonus.
